Hanoi – Vietnam’s capital
The capital is located on Red River banks. It has undergone many changes. In 1010, king Ly Thai To chose this place to be capital, and named Thang Long. Thang Long had remained its political position mostly continuous until 1802. It was named Hanoi in 1831. Under the French rule, this area placed an important role. Especially, in 1902, it was made the capital of Indochina. During Vietnam War, Hanoi was the political center in North Vietnam. It has became the official capital since 1976 after Vietnam was united as one.
